FOXBORO — Patriots cornerback Jonathan Jones and defensive tackle Daniel Ekuale — both defensive starters — were not spotted by reporters at practice Friday.
Rookie wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk (concussion) and rookie guard Layden Robinson (ankle) also were not present.
Jones had been limited with a shoulder injury Wednesday and Thursday in practice. Ekuale was newly limited in practice Thursday with an abdomen ailment.
The Patriots need all the cornerback help they can get this week while going against Jets receivers Davante Adams, Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard.
It’s not looking good for Polk and Ekuale to play Sunday against the Jets. Polk’s role is expected to be filled by Tyquan Thornton, based on comments from head coach Jerod Mayo on Friday. If left tackle Vederian Lowe (ankle) is healthy enough to play, then he would replace Robinson in the Patriots’ starting offensive line. If Lowe cannot play, then Sidy Sow would likely be his replacement.
