Running back Rhamondre Stevenson (foot) and safety Kyle Dugger (ankle) did not participate in the first practice session of the week.
Dugger missed Sunday’s loss to the 49ers, while Stevenson briefly left with an injury but returned to finish the game. Jabrill Peppers, the Patriots’ other starting safety, was placed on the commissioner’s exempt list after getting arrested early Saturday morning on assault and battery, strangulation and drug charges.
WR Kendrick Bourne (knee), DT Davon Godchaux (elbow), CB Marcus Jones (groin), C Nick Leverett (ankle) T Vederian Lowe (knee), WR K.J. Osborn (shoulder), G Layden Robinson (ankle/wrist), LB Sione Takitaki (knee), CB Marco Wilson (groin) were limited in practice. LB Anfernee Jennings (shoulder) and CB Jonathan Jones (shoulder) were listed as full participants.
This was the first practice with Drake Maye as the Patriots’ starting quarterback. If Stevenson can’t play on Sunday, when the Patriots take on the Texans, then Antonio Gibson would step up in his place. The Patriots also have running back JaMycal Hasty on the 53-man roster and Kevin Harris and Terrell Jennings on the practice squad.
