The Patriots brought in a group of free-agent defenders on workouts Tuesday, a source told the Herald.

The Patriots worked out defensive ends Kobe Jones and Christian McCarroll and linebacker Max Roberts.

Jones, 26, most recently played for the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He’s played in two regular-season NFL games with the Packers and Panthers since going undrafted out of Mississippi State in 2021.

McCarroll went undrafted this offseason out of Grand Valley State, the same school where former Patriots pass rusher Matthew Judon played.

Roberts, who played collegiately at Boston College, Maine and Fordham, has spent time with the Rams and in the XFL and UFL since going undrafted in 2021.

The Patriots could use more depth at defensive end/outside linebacker since trading Judon to the Falcons for a third-round pick. They currently have Keion White, Deatrich Wise, Anfernee Jennings, Josh Uche, Oshane Ximines, William Bradley-King and undrafted free agent Jotham Russell at their edge positions. Uche and Ximines were non-participants in practice early this week.
