The Patriots released their first unofficial depth chart of the season Tuesday.

The depth chart, produced by the team’s media relations department, largely reflects how the offense and defense were organized in training camp.

Jacoby Brissett is the Patriots’ starting quarterback, with wide receivers K.J. Osborn and DeMario Douglas listed as starters, though second-round rookie Ja’Lynn Polk is ahead of Tyquan Thornton, who mostly ran with the first team in camp. Mike Onwenu, the team’s best offensive lineman, is at right tackle, where he practiced the last several days and in the team’s preseason finale. Another rookie, Layden Robinson, is listed as the starter at right guard.

On defense, Daniel Ekuale has replaced Christian Barmore at defensive tackle, with Keion White and Anfernee Jennings manning the edges. In the secondary, Marcus Jones is starting at nickelback, flanked by outside cornerbacks Christian Gonzalez and Jonathan Jones. The Patriots have only three rookies on their defensive depth chart: sixth-round cornerback Marcellas Dial Jr., undrafted free agent Dell Pettus and recently-claimed linebacker Curtis Jacobs.

During a radio interview on WEEI, veteran corner Jonathan Jones named backup outside linebacker Oshane Ximines as a teammate who could surprise this season. … Asked about the Patriots’ development plan for Drake Maye, Tom Brady told FS1’s “The Herd” that sitting Maye is a positive. “When you have a real pro in front of you,” he said, “they can help with that learning curve (so the quarterback isn’t) going out there and losing confidence.” … The Patriots will hold their next practice Wednesday at 1 p.m., as they begin their first on-field preparation for the Bengals.
