NextImg:Patriots extra points: Is O-line coach concerned about depth at tackle?

FOXBORO — The Patriots were left with just five healthy options at offensive tackle in practice Thursday with Vederian Lowe and Calvin Anderson sitting out.

So, is offensive line coach Scott Peters concerned with the depth at that position?

Yes, but so is everyone around the NFL.

“There’s always concerns with depth, at the tackle in particular,” Peters said. “There’s not a ton of guys walking Planet Earth that fit the bill for that. And that’s that’s every team in the NFL. But for us, I mean, with the guys we have here, we feel it can do the job and can do it well.”

With Lowe and Calvin Anderson non-participants and Tyrone Wheatley Jr. on injured reserve, the Patriots were left with Mike Onwenu, Chukwuma Okorafor, Caedan Wallace, Kellen Diesch and Zuri Henry at the position.

Bubbly second-year slot receiver DeMario Douglas said he tries (unsuccessfully) to pull some trash talk out of Christian Gonzalez, a fellow 2022 draft pick known for his subdued demeanor. “He’s quiet,” Douglas said. “I’m the one who will be like, ‘Talk! Talk!’ … He don’t talk. A lot of DBs talk. He don’t talk. So I’ll be trying to get him to talk sometimes, but he makes me work.” … Patriots defenders have a nickname for D-tackle Trysten Hill, who grabbed a tip-drill interception on Thursday: Full Speed. “Every time he comes out, he’s explosive,” Daniel Ekuale said. “I like his energy every day. He’s doing everything full speed, so we call him Full Speed.”
