FOXBORO — The Patriots were down two offensive starters and four players total at Wednesday’s practice, their first before kicking off against the Jets this weekend.

Running back Rhamondre Stevenson, wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk, offensive guard Layden Robinson and linebacker Curtis Jacobs were all absent. Stevenson returned from a one-game absence to play in last Sunday’s loss to Jacksonville after he hurt his foot two weeks ago versus the Dolphins. Polk suffered a head injury versus the Jaguars and is in concussion protocol. Robinson left that game with what he told the Herald was a slight ankle sprain.

Jacobs, a rookie backup on the 53-man roster, has primarily played on special teams. The Patriots also fielded a new linebacker in Kewshawn Banks, who recently spent time with the Packers and in the USFL. Banks may have filled the open practice squad spot that came available after the team released long snapper Tucker Addington on Tuesday.

The Pats will release their first injury report of the week Wednesday evening.
