FOXBORO — Patriots rookie wide receiver Demario Douglas has cleared concussion protocol and “should be available” to play against the Chiefs on Sunday, head coach Bill Belichick announced Friday morning.

Douglas missed two games with a concussion suffered in the Patriots’ Week 12 loss to the Giants. It was the 2023 sixth-round pick’s second concussion of the season.

Douglas leads the Patriots in receiving with 410 yards on 36 catches. He has yet to get into the end zone this season.

“He’s made good progress. He’s just hasn’t been consistently out there,” Belichick said Friday morning about Douglas this season. “He’s come back then played then missed time then came back then missed time. Unlike some of the other players who have really been out there every pretty much every day like Sidy (Sow) and Keion (White), guys like that. They’ve just been able to string more together. He’s making progress.”

Douglas, fellow rookie Kayshon Boutte and veteran receiver DeVante Parker all missed the Patriots’ Week 14 win over the Steelers with injuries. That left JuJu Smith-Schuster, Jalen Reagor and Tyquan Thornton available at wide receiver. Thornton was limited in practice Thursday with a hamstring injury.
