FOXBORO — The Patriots released wide receiver Jalen Reagor and cornerback Isaiah Bolden to make room for waiver claims, sources told the Herald.

The Patriots claimed offensive tackles Demontrey Jacobs and Zachary Thomas from the Broncos and Rams, respectively, linebacker Curtis Jacobs from the Chiefs and defensive tackle Eric Johnson from the Colts off waivers Wednesday at noon.

The Patriots initially kept seven wide receivers on their 53-man roster, including Reagor. Releasing Reagor, a 2020 first-round pick by the Eagles, now leaves them with DeMario Douglas, Tyquan Thornton, Ja’Lynn Polk, Javon Baker, K.J. Osborn and Kayshon Boutte.

The Patriots also initially kept seven cornerbacks on their initial 53-man roster, including Bolden, a 2023 seventh-round pick who missed last season with a concussion. The Patriots still have Christian Gonzalez, Jonathan Jones, Marcus Jones, Marco Wilson, Alex Austin and rookie Marcellas Dial on their updated 53-man roster.

The Patriots should still have openings on their practice squad after Wednesday’s moves. Both Reagor and Bolden would be eligible to return to the practice squad if they want to stay with the Patriots.

Reagor was working as the team’s backup “X” wide receiver behind Thornton in training camp. Bolden had started working in the slot during the spring and summer.
