FOXBORO — The Patriots bolstered their cornerback depth Wednesday by claiming Marco Wilson off waivers from the Cardinals, per source.

To make room for Wilson on the depth chart, the Patriots placed running back Rhamondre Stevenson, who’s dealing with a high-ankle sprain, on injured reserve, per source.

The Patriots currently have just four cornerbacks on their 53-man roster in Jonathan Jones, Myles Bryant, Shaun Wade and Alex Austin. Cornerback has been a trouble spot for the Patriots since the start of the season. Christian Gonzalez and Marcus Jones are on season-ending injured reserve, J.C. Jackson is on the non-football illness list and the team has cut Jack Jones and Ameer Speed.

Wilson, a 2021 fourth-round pick out of Florida, has played 43 career games with 37 starts. He has three career interceptions, one pick-six, 18 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, 158 tackles, three tackles for loss and one QB hit in his career. He was waived Tuesday after having not played since Week 11.

The Patriots are left with Ezekiel Elliott, JaMycal Hasty and Kevin Harris at running back. Stevenson hasn’t played since Week 13.

The Patriots take on the Bills in Buffalo on Sunday afternoon.
