Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was listed on Wednesday’s practice report with a new right hand injury.
The injury limited Maye at Wednesday’s practice, according the team. Before practice, Patriots coach Jerod Mayo told reporters Maye would play in Sunday’s season finale against Buffalo, if healthy.
“Drake is our starting quarterback. If he’s healthy and ready to go, as we go through this week of practice, then he’ll play,” Mayo said.
Shortly after Mayo’s press conference, Maye said he had no reason to believe he wouldn’t play Sunday. The 22-year-old added he’s preparing to start, and showed no visible signs of injury or discomfort during his press conference,
“I feel great,” Maye said. “I woke up feeling good, thank the good Lord. It’s another day to get out here, and I’m looking forward to getting out there Sunday.
The Patriots also listed wide receivers Ja’Lynn Polk (shoulder) and Kayshon Boutte (illness) as non-participants on Wednesday’s practice report. Star cornerback Christian Gonzalez remains in concussion protocol and did not participate.
