FOXBORO — The Patriots once again have a backup center on their 53-man roster.

The Patriots signed offensive lineman Ben Brown off of the Raiders’ practice squad Thursday, according to a source. Brown, 26, went undrafted out of Ole Miss in 2022. He’s since spent time with the Bengals, Seahawks, Cardinals and Raiders.

Brown spent all offseason with the Raiders. He was waived during roster cutdowns and joined the Raiders’ practice squad in August.

Brown has experience playing guard and center, but he exclusively played center in training camp.

The Patriots only had one center on their 53-man roster since playing David Andrews on injured reserve. Nick Leverett, who replaced Andrews in Week 5, allowed 10 pressures in his first start, per PFF. That was tied for the highest mark allowed by a center in the PFF era (since 2006).

The Patriots also have centers Bryan Hudson and Sincere Haynesworth on their practice squad. Hudson was elevated from the practice squad in Week 5 and has taken first-team reps with the offense in the last two weeks.
