A man was fatally shot late Saturday night, Essex County DA Paul Tucker and Lynn Police Chief Chris Reddy announced Sunday, following a massive drive-by shooting earlier in the day.
At about 11:00 p.m., the Lynn Police Department received a report of a man shot on Lincoln Street, a release from the DA’s Office said.
Responding officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle at the scene, the release stated.
The victim — who’s name is being withheld until his family is notified — was taken to Salem Hospital and pronounced dead.
The violence follows a drive-by shooting on Essex Street which left one person dead and injured six others around 2:20 a.m. Saturday.
“Based on the preliminary investigation, this does not appear to be a random act of violence and is not believed to be related to the September 2nd shootings on Essex Street currently under investigation,” the DA’s Office said.
The Essex County DA’s Office State Police Detective Unit and detectives from the Lynn Police Department are actively investigating the shooting, the release stated.
