One person was hospitalized and two others were displaced following a fire in an East Boston multi-unit home Sunday, the Boston Fire Department reported.

At about 9 a.m., firefighters responded to a multi-family building at 11 Moore St. in East Boston, the department stated. The responders reported fire spread through the first and second floor of the building and extended to an adjacent building, Boston Fire said.

A second-alarm was quickly ordered at the scene, according to Boston Fire.

Just before 10:30 a.m., the department reported “fire knocked down” in the building and “major overhauling being done” in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

“Firefighters did a great job stopping the fire from spreading in the adjacent with the close proximity of of the houses,” Boston Fire officials wrote Sunday.

One resident was taken to the hospital by Boston EMS, District Fire Chief Paul Ristino briefed just before 11 a.m. Sunday. Further details on the state of the injured resident were not immediately given.

Two more residents and a dog were displaced by the fire, the department stated.

Boston Fire said the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
