A Boston cop was struck by a suspect fleeing in a car after being called to investigate a group of men with guns in Mattapan on Tuesday night.

After a police chase, two individuals were caught and arrested on firearm and trespassing charges, and three guns were found at the scene, Boston Police said. The suspect who struck the officer got away and remains at large as of Wednesday.

Police stated they received a call reporting a group of four people gathered around 33 Stanton Street in Mattapan, the site of St. Matthew’s Parish, including two men allegedly carrying firearms before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night. The property included multiple “No Trespassing” signs, police reported.

At the scene, BPD said, responding officers found four men in two parked vehicles. The men began to flee as police got out of their cars.

Two suspects jumped over the fence towards Norfolk Street, while another hopped into one of the cars, police said.

The vehicle gunned at the officers at a “high rate of speed,” BPD stated, hitting one officer hard enough he rolled up onto the hood and off the side. The officer was taken by Boston EMS to a local hospital and has “non-life-threatening injuries,” the department said.

Officers put out a search for the vehicle and suspect, broadcasting the description of the car and direction it was traveling.

The police caught up to and restrained one suspect in the parking lot, BPD said. Chasing down the other two suspects fleeing on foot, officers found one of the suspects around 234 Norfolk Street. The cops put handcuffs on the man and located a firearm in his right shorts pocket, Boston Police said.

Following the direction the two suspects ran, police stated they found a large capacity magazine with 11 rounds of ammunition nearby and a gun in a wooded area a few feet from the fence the suspects leaped over.

A search of the second vehicle left in the parking lot, which the police said was unoccupied and had a front passenger door left wide open, reportedly turned up a third gun on the passenger seat.

The three firearms were determined to be a Polymer 80 with one round in the chamber, a Smith and Wesson M&P with one round in the chamber and six rounds in the magazine, and a Glock 43 with six rounds in the magazine.

The two men arrested were Markeith Walton, 21, of Marlborough, and Robert Scott, 26, of Mattapan.

Walton was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large-capacity feeding device, and trespassing. Police stated he had a warrant for his arrest for multiple firearm offenses.

Scott was charged with trespassing.

Wednesday morning, Boston Police also identified the victim of a shooting in Jamaica Plain as Andy Baez Manan, 35, of Boston. Manan was reported shot at New Washington Street and the Arborway around 10:15 p.m. on Sunday and taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
