Kevin Youkilis will not return as one of NESN’s Red Sox color commentators for the 2025, the network confirmed on Wednesday morning.
NESN announced its broadcast talent roster for the upcoming season, which will largely remain unchanged minus the departure of the former Red Sox infielder. Lou Merloni will take over as the network’s primary color commentator alongside lead play-by-play man Dave O’Brien, and Will Middlebrooks and Kevin Millar will serve as rotating color analysts as well.
Jahmai Webster will remain the network’s sideline reporter and Mike Monaco will fill in as play-by-play man on occasion.
Since Dennis Eckersley’s retirement from broadcasting during the 2022 season, NESN has utilized a rotating cast of color commentators. Of that group Youkilis has been the most prominent, with the three-time All-Star calling roughly half the games on the schedule during each of the past two seasons.
According to MassLive’s Chris Cotillo, Youkilis’ two-year contract with the network expired after last season.
In addition to the broadcast team, NESN also announced its studio crew for 2025 as well. Tom Caron will remain the primary studio host with Adam Pellerin contributing, and Lenny DiNardo, Deven Marrero, Jonathan Papelbon and Jim Rice will all return as studio analysts.
