MONDAY’S HIGHLIGHTS

Catholic Memorial has named Thomas Claiborne as its new athletic director, replacing Craig Najarian, who is leaving following the conclusion of the school year to become the athletic director at Middlesex.

Claiborne, who is currently on staff at Catholic Memorial as a guidance counselor and assistant football coach, was one of the top linemen in the state during his playing days at Wellesley High. A three-year all-Bay State Conference selection, Claiborne was a Boston Herald All-Scholastic in 2005.

Claiborne went to play at Boston College where he started in 34 games from 2006-2010. He went on to play semi pro football for several years, most recently as a member of the Massachusetts Pirates in the National Arena League.

Najarian served as the AD at Catholic Memorial since 2015 at which time the school has been one of the top programs in the state in several sports. Prior to Catholic Memorial, Najarian served in a similar capacity at both Foxboro and Holliston.
