In a Boston City League game, Ian Piper put up 27 points, seven rebounds, and had five steals while Kamron Gordon added 21 points, seven steals, and five assists as Burke (13-2) defeated Boston English, 80-37.
Dalton Kinnon dominated with 48 points, tying a Mystic Valley (13-2) record and powering his team to an 84-46 Commonwealth Athletic Conference win over Northeast.
Phil Botelho (23 points) and Jake Webster (15 points) set the tone for Bishop Feehan (13-2) in a 69-52 nonleague win over Walpole. … Collin Waldron and Aaron McCarthy tallied 15 points each as Archbishop Williams (8-6) defeated Southeastern, 74-58. … Jacob Klass poured in 30 points as Beverly (12-5) bested Haverhill, 78-49. … Finn Baron scored 22 points as Marblehead topped Malden, 70-50.
Gavin Wesley recorded 14 points for North Reading (8-8) in a 56-42 Cape Ann League win over Rockport. For Rockport, Josiah Whitley notched 1,000 career points.
Jamari Antoine (17 points), Brayden Buckley (16 points) and Marquis White (14 points) guided Thayer in a 77-55 NEPSAC win over Pingree.
Tzar Powell-Aparicio (21 points) and Colin Christiansen (20 points) led the way for Lowell in a 75-54 Merrimack Valley Conference win over Dracut.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Senior Bella Sulfaro paced her team with 13 points, while freshman Sarah Michel dropped 11 points as Blue Hills earned a 35-30 win over Westport in the Mayflower Athletic Conference.
In a Catholic Central Conference matchup, Norah O’Brien put up 10 points and had 8 steals to lead Cardinal Spellman to a 58-22 victory over Cristo Rey.
Jaylene Pires put up 22 points, and Savannah Azoff tallied 16 points as Dennis-Yarmouth won its first Cape and Islands League championship in over 20 years with a 58-21 victory over Barnstable.
In the Cape Ann League, Amelia Crowe (15 points) and Allie Gagnon (11 points) shouldered things offensively as Pentucket (14-2) coasted to a 51-23 win over Amesbury. … Sasha Makogonov (16 points, 16 rebounds) led Hamilton-Wenham to a 52-24 win over Essex Tech.
In nonleague action, Mia Ortega scored 30 points as Southeastern (13-3) rolled to a 77-28 win over Randolph. … Grace Polen (seven points, seven rebounds, block) and Brooke Ryan (seven points, rebound, steal) contributed on both ends of the floor for West Bridgewater in a 30-16 win over Holbrook.
Maeve Powers (18 points, eight rebounds, five assists), Tabby McDonough (14 points, eight rebounds) and Jennifer Xue (10 points) reached double figures in scoring for North Quincy in a 56-42 Patriot League win over Scituate. … Alyssa Hopps finished with 24 points, lifting Quincy to a 51-42 victory over Pembroke.
Maddie Oliver had another great game with 28 points, eight rebounds and five assists as Norwell (14-1) erupted for a 69-34 victory over South Shore League rival Abington.
Elle Grant registered 19 points, and Jasmine James tacked on 12 points as Thayer defeated Phillips Exeter (New Hampshire) 60-46 in a NEPSAC matchup.
BOYS HOCKEY
Chris Casseso sniped a pair of goals, eclipsing 100 career points in the process as Somerville skated past Lynn, 6-2, in the Greater Boston League.
Annett August buried the winner in overtime to give Barnstable a 3-2 win over Martha’s Vineyard in the Cape and Islands League.
Matty McDonald, Tommy Anderson (goal, assist) and Mason Shea found the net for Thayer in a 3-2 Independent School League win over St. Sebastian’s.
GIRLS HOCKEY
Kelsey MacPherson scored four goals and dished an assist to Savannah Rivera, while Emily Coito got the shutout in net for Hopkinton/Dover-Sherborn (8-6-1) in a 4-0 nonleague win over West/East Bridgewater. … Katy Sarazen potted two goals, and Alyssa Norden and Addie Markiewicz finished with a goal each while Avery Sico secured the shutout for St. Mary’s (Lynn) (7-9-1) in a 4-0 victory over Westford Academy. … Sophia Demeo netted a hat trick for Shawsheen/Bedford/Lowell (13-3) in a 3-1 win over Medford/Malden.
Wren Abboud (two goals), Kate Sullivan and Maddy Call (goal, assist) hit the back of the net for Thayer in a 4-2 Independent School League win over Middlesex.
BASEBALL
Jeff Sylvia was named the new head baseball coach at Middleboro. An assistant principal at Middleboro, he served as an assistant baseball coach for the Sachems last year.
Sylvia has extensive coaching experience as an assistant at New Bedford and Bridgewater-Raynham before spending 12 years as the head baseball coach at Taunton. While at Taunton, the Tigers reached the tournament 10 times and advanced to the Div. 1 South sectional final twice.
