MONDAY’S HIGHLIGHTS

BASEBALL

Luke Leger (nine strikeouts) was a workhorse from the mound, pitching all nine innings of a Dual County League thriller that saw Newton South edge Concord Carlisle, 2-1, on Jackson Harrild’s (2-for-4, homer) stealing of home.

Tyler Kropis (12 strikeouts), Declan Lush (four strikeouts, one hit) and Jack Lasalle combined for 10 innings of three-run ball, leaving the door open for Kevin Crowe to hit the walkoff for Seekonk (9-2) in the 10th in a 4-3 South Coast Conference win over Apponequet.

Freshmen Josh Bouchard and Owen Miller each drove in a run in the seventh to separate Bellingham (9-1) in a 3-1 Tri-Valley League win over Hopkinton.

In Commonwealth Athletic Conference play, Mike Maselli’s (four RBI, two runs) was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle and Lukas Poirier had three hits and two RBI himself as Shawsheen rolled past Essex Tech 13-3.

Jack Fitzgerald and Cam Grieve each belted homers for Braintree as it overwhelmed Bay State Conference opponent Framingham, 16-0, in five innings.

Cole Hendrickson, Jack Douglas, John McDonald and Gabriel Knudsen each had multiple hits for Hanover, producing enough to withstand a late comeback in a 9-6 Patriot League win against Hingham. … Sophomore Jayson Ruehs led off the seventh inning with a double, getting to third base before sophomore Brad Leonard hit a fly ball to drive him in and break the tie for Plymouth North in a 5-4 win over Silver Lake.

Austin Harper struck out 14 and allowed five hits as Wilmington defeated Belmont 8-1 in the Middlesex League.

BOYS LACROSSE

In the Hockomock League, Tyler Sacchetti paced things offensively with four goals to go with four assists, helping to propel Franklin during a 20-0 shutout of Milford.

Logan Chentte sniped four goals, while John Gianibas (two goals, two assists) added a spark as Hull defeated South Shore League rival Middleboro, 8-3. … Hunter Grafton lit up the scoresheet with six goals and six assists for Abington in a 23-5 win over Mashpee.

Robbie Granara registered his 200th career point, as Reading registered its first-ever victory over state powerhouse Lincoln-Sudbury with a 9-6 win during a nonleague contest. … John Boyle’s hat trick boosted Arlington Catholic (8-2) in a 10-5 victory against Stoneham.

Henry Wright and Eliot Donovan each registered hat tricks for Ipswich, defeating Lynnfield 9-5 in Cape Ann League play.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Karah Devan and Madigan Kelley each tallied six goals for Monomoy in a 17-12 win over nonleague opponent Bourne.

Sophomore Caroline Burtch finished with a hat trick and added five draw controls, helping to guide Norwell (7-2) to a 15-0 shutout of South Shore League opponent East Bridgewater.

Nayara Burato’s lone goal proved the winner, capping off Emma Finch’s hat trick to help Greater Lowell edge Lowell Catholic 5-4 in a Commonwealth Athletic Conference bout.

Avery Laundry caught fire for five goals and Coco Clopton backed her with four more, bolstering Swampscott (6-2) as part of a 16-2 rout over Winthrop in Northeastern Conference action.

Evelyn Bernard overcame tight coverage to sound off for seven goals, pairing with a hat trick from Dylan Whitman to lead Hamilton-Wenham (5-4) over North Reading, 15-8, in a Cape Ann League tilt. … Kayden Flather erupted for five goals and Halle Greenleaf dished seven assists for Ipswich as it beat Triton 17-2.

Zoe Kalaw’s hat trick and two assists helped Medford to a 12-3 Greater Boston League win over Revere.

SOFTBALL

In a nonleague contest, Maggie Schlossburg fired a complete-game no-hitter, punching out 14 batters on the day, in a 5-0 win for East Bridgewater over Cardinal Spellman. … Marissa Durette struck out nine in a complete game, partnering with a seven-run fifth inning to help Plymouth North outlast Pembroke 9-3. … Bella Fazio (3-for-4) and Sara Cross (2-for-4, two RBI) had big days at the plate as Hamilton-Wenham scored eight unanswered for an 8-2 win against Greater Lawrence. … Kiley Hogan (10 strikeouts) helped her case at the plate with two hits and two RBI to lead Tyngsboro as it defeated Tewksbury 5-4.

Every offensive contribution mattered for Lowell in a 14-13 Merrimack Valley Conference win over Dracut, and Sylvia Lally (3-4, five RBI), Alanna Carbonneau (2-for-4, two RBI, three runs) and Abby Grenier (3-for-4, RBI, two runs) all delivered.

Sofia Scalfani belted a homer and Ali McElligott batted 3-for-4 to help power Wilmington over Belmont, 13-1, in five innings of a Middlesex League bout.

Bri Ghilardi and Hannah Selig each had three hits, while Alanna Waters (3-for-4) and Samantha Waters both homered for Silver Lake to spark a 12-1 Patriot League win over Plymouth South.

Hayleigh Silva set down 10 via strikeout and allowed just two runs on three hits, adding to her 3-for-4 day at the plate and Ana Tsonis’ (2-for-3) home run to catapult Greater New Bedford over Fairhaven, 7-2, in South Coast Conference action.

Calli Pineau was perfect at the dish amid a 3-for-3 day with two RBI and three runs, highlighting four players with multi-hit performances for Abington (6-3) as it bested South Shore League foe West Bridgewater, 8-1.

Sharlotte Stazinski was sensational over eight innings, fanning 15 while Ariana Kreuzer (RBI) and Caroline Doran (two RBI) each drove in extra-inning runs for Walpole to beat Milton 4-1.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Ryan Lovasco and Ryan Cole each posted 12 kills for Essex Tech (5-3) in the team’s fifth straight win – a 3-0 Commonwealth Athletic Conference sweep over Whittier. … Jake Fritz set a school record with 30 kills, pacing Salem in a 3-1 win over KIPP.

Son Nguyen helped orchestrate a three-set comeback, dishing 56 assists for O’Bryant (11-1) in a 3-2 nonleague win over Andover. … Matt Deely, Nolan Farrell and Eric Barcelos combined for seven blocks and 18 kills, lifting St. John’s of Shrewsbury (10-2) over Newton South 3-0.

Victor Lam distributed 30 assists for Chelmsford in a 3-0 Merrimack Valley Conference sweep of Central Catholic.
