Nate Pennini (five-inning shutout, nine strikeouts) dominated from the mound and Brendan Sencaj (three hits, two RBI) dominated from the plate as King Philip routed Stoughton 12-0 in five innings of a Hockomock League bout.
In a nonleague contest, Ryan Baker fired a complete-game allowing one run while fanning seven, to lead Whitman-Hanson (1-0) to a 9-1 win over New Bedford. … Zach Bogusz tossed 10 strikeouts over five innings to boost Winthrop to a 9-1 win over Northeast. … With an offensive explosion that saw three batters accrue multi-hit performances, Lincoln-Sudbury rolled to an 11-6 win over BC High for coach Matt Wenthworth’s 100th career win.
Emilio Berndt delivered the game-winning hit in the 10th inning, pushing Watertown to a 3-2 win over Arlington in Middlesex League action.
In the Greater Boston League, Almani Gerardo went 3-for-4 with four RBI in a 7-3 win for Lynn Classical over Revere. … Sophomore Aiden Brett doubled twice with the bases loaded for four RBI, Ryan Coggswell and Zeke Noelsaint each scored three times off two hits, and freshman Ryan McMahon delivered a one-hitter in his debut as Malden downed Everett 14-4.

Lucas Leander registered a hat trick, helping to propel Rockland (1-0) during a 6-4 nonleague victory over Braintree.
In the Cape Ann League, Mike Murphy paced things with six goals, while Owen Considine added a five-goal spot himself as Lynnfield erupted for a convincing 17-3 romp of Gloucester.

Brooke Lunedei erupted for eight goals, eclipsing 100 for her career as Bourne cruised to a 16-8 victory over Mashpee in a nonleague contest. … Ella Nagle finished the day with six goals, as Whitman-Hanson (1-0) opened its season with a 16-5 victory over Pembroke.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Christyan Berger paced things offensively with 24 assists, and Alex Sarrano added 12 kills for Revere during a 3-0 sweep of Lynn Classical in Greater Boston League play.
Nick Heitman hammered 17 kills and Obi Umeh added 11 kills to capitalize on Parth Pawar’s 39 assists as Acton-Boxboro topped Dual County League foe Newton South 3-0.
Oscar Klappenbach delivered 10 kills and Hogan Flechtner posted 14 points on serve for Lincoln-Sudbury (1-1) in a 3-1 nonleague win over Algonquin.
Outside hitters starred for St. John’s of Shrewsbury (2-1) in a 3-1 Catholic Conference win over St. John’s Prep, as senior Matt Deeley dialed up 26 kills and sophomore Francis McGonagle added 19 kills.
St. John’s (S) will be taking part in two benefit matches in the upcoming weeks. On Thursday, April 13, the Pioneers will host BC High in a contest to raise money for Brain Cancer. On the following Thursday and Friday, St. John’s will compete as part in the 2023 ALSOne “Spike Out ALS” tournament.
