Disgraced Mass State Police trooper Michael Proctor is still on the Norfolk DA’s prospective witness list for the Karen Read retrial, along with 85 other names.

Read, 45, of Mansfield, is accused of striking Boston Police Officer John O’Keefe, her boyfriend of two years, with her car and leaving him to freeze and die on a Canton front lawn on Jan. 29, 2022.

She was indicted on three charges: second-degree murder, manslaughter while operating a motor vehicle under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. She was tried on those charges last year, but the case ended in mistrial because of a hung jury.

The first trial featured Proctor’s bombshell testimony, during which he was grilled about his offensive texts about Read.

Proctor — who in texts called Read a “whack job” and a “babe,” and texted “No nudes so far” to colleagues while searching her phone, and wrote “Hopefully she kills herself” — was suspended following the first Read trial last year. Proctor could face permanent discipline.

His name still appears on the Norfolk DA’s prospective witness list, which was released this week. Many of the names on the list are the same as for the first trial.

The other Mass State Police reps on the list — who became household names during the first Read trial — include: Lt. Brian Tully, Sgt. Yuriy Bukhenik, Sgt. Zachary Clark, and Troopers Joseph Paul, Nicholas Guarino, Kevin O’Hara, and Evan Brent.

The Canton Police names on the list include: Chief Helena Rafferty, Sgt. Sean Goode, Lt. Michael Lank, and retired Lt. Paul Gallagher.

There are seven Alberts on the list: Brian, Brian Jr., Caitlin, Chris, Colin, Julie and Nicole.

Other household names that are on the list include: Brian Higgins, Jennifer McCabe, Kerry Roberts, Paul O’Keefe, William Read, Gretchen Voss, and Aidan Kearney also known as “Turtleboy.”

“The Commonwealth moves to be partially exempt from Mass. R. Crim. P. 14… that requires the Commonwealth to produce: ‘The names, addresses, dates of birth, and known contact information of the Commonwealth’s prospective witnesses other than law enforcement witnesses,’ ” the Norfolk DA’s office wrote. “The Commonwealth asserts that given the ongoing harassment of witnesses, threats to witnesses’ personal safety, and the highly publicized nature of this case, there is a ‘special circumstances warranting non-disclosure’ of the witnesses’ addresses, contact information, and dates of birth.”
