BOYS BASKETBALL

Lorenzo Jackson’s 3-pointer at the buzzer gave No. 1 Archbishop Williams (23-1) a 65-62 victory over No. 4 Cardinal Spellman in a Div. 3 state semifinal. Josh Campbell surpassed the 1,000-point mark for the Archies in the victory.

Ajay Lopes scored a team-high 18 points and Aaron Cote added 14 as No. 1 Wareham (21-3) cruised to a 69-32 win over fifth-seeded Millbury in a Div. 4 state semifinal.

Braeden White tallied 40 points as No. 2 David Prouty (24-0) rolled to an 85-58 win over No. 14 Holbrook in a Div. 5 semifinal contest.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

In a Div. 4 semifinal matchup, Hijjah Allen-Paisley scored 21 points while Keyona Raines added 13 points and seven steals as No. 1 Cathedral (19-3) defeated Notre Dame (W), 60-43. … Grace Wigington tallied 24 points as No. 3 Wahconah (21-3) handled seventh-seeded Littleton, 86-37.

Lindsey Grattan scored 20 points as top-seeded Millis (16-8) advanced to the Div. 5 state finals with a 57-47 win over fourth-seeded Hoosac Valley.

CLASS NOTES

St. Sebastian’s freshman AJ Dybantsa was named the Gatorade Massachusetts Boys Basketball Player of the Year.

The 6-foot-8, 196-pound freshman forward led the Arrows to a 26-2 record and the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council Class A title game this past season. Dybantsa averaged 19.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.5 blocks per game and shot 60.8 percent from the field, including 41 percent on 3-point attempts.

Dybantsa joins recent Gatorade Massachusetts Boys Basketball Players of the Year TJ Power (2021-22, Worcester Academy), Kyle Filipowski (2020-21, Wilbraham & Monson Academy), Dallion Johnson (2019-20, Phillips Academy) and Chris Ledlum (2018-19, Northfield Mount Hermon School), among the state’s list of former award winners.
