The Mets full-on firesale is complete.
The Amazins have dealt ace Justin Verlander back to the Houston Astros, according to multiple reports.
After leaving the Astros this offseason to ink a two-year, $86 million contract with the Mets, the 40-year-old is heading back to the Lone Star state in exchange for two minor league players.
Verlander doesn’t appear to have lost many steps as the right-hander owns a 3.15 ERA in 16 starts this season.
Now the veteran will head back to an AL Pennant race where the Astros enter play Tuesday just a game back of Max Scherzer’s Rangers in the AL Central.
This is a developing story. Check back for details.
