MBTA riders will see another round of service disruptions on the Orange, Red and Green Lines and Commuter Rail lines as the system works on repairs and maintenance through November.
The T will wrap up intensive work on the Orange Line this month with a final week long outage, before moving onto work on the Green and Red lines throughout November, according to a T schedule released Monday. Free shuttles are set to deploy during outages.
“The MBTA understands how these service changes affect riders’ daily travels during this period, but we are committed to improving your travels long term with more reliable, timely, and safe service,” the T said in the release Monday. “We thank riders for their patience as we deliver this important work and for continuing to ride our system.”
Orange Line service will suspend between Ruggles and Oak Grove between Oct. 26 and 27 and then North Station and Oak Grove from Oct. 27 to Nov. 1 as part of the Track Improvement Plan. In addition to free shuttles, riders are encouraged to take the Haverhill Commuter Rail Line fare-free service between Oak Grove, Malden Center, and North Station.
The Red Line will see several short outages for track improvements throughout the month of November, beginning with a closure between Broadway and North Quincy from Nov. 5 to 10.
The T will expand the closure between Broadway and Ashmont from Nov. 9 to 10. Later in the month the Red Line will close from Harvard and Broadway between Nov. 18 to 24.
The free shuttles will be available again, along with fare-free Commuter Rail alternatives listed on the MBTA site.
The Green Line is set up for a number of complicated outages, beginning with the weekend closure between Riverside and Kenmore from Nov. 9 to 10 during which free shuttles will replace the line.
Service will then be suspended between Union Square and Lechmere from Nov. 11 to 17, during which regular bus routes will replace service to Union Square.
During that outage starting at 8:45 p.m. Nov. 15 through end of service Nov. 17, the closure will expand to include service between Park Street and Union Square as well as East Somerville.
On the Commuter Rail, riders will see six disruptions on the Franklin, Fitchburg, and Lowell lines in November. The T said “dedicated diversion schedules” would be available on the mbta.com website “soon.”
The T outlined work during the outages, including signage repair, track replacement, signal work and station amenity upgrades.
