The head of communications for the Massachusetts Republican Party is leaving the party to work for Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike Kennealy, the campaign said in a statement Thursday.
Logan Trupiano, who started at the Massachusetts Republican Party in December 2023, plans to start April 28 as the communications director for Kennealy. The former housing and economic development secretary for Gov. Charlie Baker launched his bid for governor this month and previously served as finance chair for the MassGOP.
In a statement to the Herald Thursday, Kennealy said he had an opportunity to work with Trupiano during his time at the party.
“Logan’s success leading the party’s communications strategy and modernizing its operation are a welcome addition to our already strong team. For the past two years, he’s been laying the groundwork for this very moment: defeating (Gov.) Maura Healey. I’m proud to bring him on board to help lead that charge,” Kennealy said.
Before joining the Massachusetts Republican Party, Trupiano served as a public outreach specialist with Hingham-based public relations agency Watkins Strategies.
He spent four years at the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority, first as an intern and later as a procurement asset coordinator. He graduated from Suffolk University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in government, law, and public policy, according to his resume.
An official with the Massachusetts Republican Party did not immediately return a request for comment.
Kennealy previously hired Ben Hincher as his campaign manager.
Hincher has worked on multiple campaigns in New England, including Gail Huff Brown’s bid for Congress and Jesse Brown’s campaign for Congress.
Hincher also worked as the deputy state director for the Maine Republican Party and deputy operations director for Baker and former Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito’s inaugural committee from November 2018 to January 2019.
Hincher had a brief stint at the Massachusetts Republican Party as a regional field director and intern.
