A Revere teenager was clocked speeding more than 120 mph on Interstate 95 in New Hampshire over the weekend, according to State Police who chased after the motorcyclist and arrested him on several charges.
Salim Castro, 19, was initially clocked at 94 mph as he operated a 2009 Honda CBR600 on I-95 in Hampton, police said.
When a lieutenant tried to stop Castro, the motorcyclist allegedly took off, traveling more than 120 mph, according to police.
The State Police aircraft then followed the motorcycle, and Castro continued onto Route 101 West.
After getting off the highway at exit 8, Castro went into the parking lot of New England Dragway, where a large event was taking place. Police swarmed the lot, and Castro was taken into custody.
Castro has been charged with reckless driving, reckless conduct, disobeying an officer, resisting arrest, operating without a motorcycle endorsement, unregistered motor vehicle and failure to display registration. He was released, and is due to appear in court on June 27.
Overall, the State Police Special Enforcement Unit’s traffic enforcement initiative over the weekend led to 67 motor vehicle violations on I-95 in Hampton.
“The operation was conducted in response to the increasing number of traffic violations and crashes on New Hampshire highways,” State Police wrote. “The use of State Police aircraft allowed troopers to effectively monitor and enforce traffic laws from above, resulting in a significant reduction in reckless driving and other dangerous behaviors.”
