


State and local police were investigating a reported “targeted” shooting Tuesday night.
Wakefield Police and Mass State Police responded to a shooting on Lakeshore Drive after 7 p.m.
“We believe this to be a targeted incident and not random,” Wakefield Police posted.
“There is a heavy police presence in that area and around Cumberland Farms on Lowell St.,” police added. “The scene is secure but we are actively looking for an unknown number of suspects. If you see anything suspicious we ask that you call 911 to report it to us. If you observed anything you believe may be helpful to our investigation please call (781) 245-1212 x. 3”
The local department thanked Massachusetts State Police, Reading and Saugus Police for helping in the investigation.
“The Massachusetts State Police are assisting Wakefield Police for a report of shots fired at approximately 8 p.m.,” a State Police spokesperson said in a statement.
MSP was providing assistance through its K-9 Unit and uniformed personnel.
