A statie is accused of sexually assaulting a driver, according to the Middlesex DA who called the trooper’s alleged actions “a blatant violation of the public trust.”
Mass State Police trooper Terence Kent, who took home more than $173,000 in 2023, has been indicted by a Middlesex County grand jury on charges of bribery and indecent assault and battery.
The case goes back to Aug. 24 when the alleged victim was parked near Brighton’s Soldiers Field Road at around 4 p.m.
Kent allegedly used his marked State Police cruiser to block the male driver from leaving the area.
When the driver asked Kent to move, the statie allegedly told the victim that his vehicle registration and insurance had expired and that his vehicle had to be towed.
When the driver expressed concerns, Kent reportedly told the alleged victim to meet him at a Department of Transportation property in Lexington.
Kent is then accused of requesting the driver perform a sexual act as a favor to him. In turn, Kent allegedly said he would take care of the victim by not towing his car.
“The defendant in this case allegedly used his position of power as a sworn police officer to commit a sexual assault,” Middlesex DA Marian Ryan said in a statement. “These allegations, if true, are a blatant violation of the public trust and his obligation to uphold high ethical standards and the values of the community.
“Today’s indictment is a reflection of our continued commitment to the highest level of accountability and transparency when it comes to those entrusted to protect public safety,” Ryan added.
Mass State Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
