A Brookline man is accused of tricking his girlfriend into taking pills to end her pregnancy, according to the Middlesex DA’s office.

Robert Kawada, 43, allegedly secretly gave his girlfriend medication under the guise that he was giving her iron pills and vitamins.

That medication was actually intended to end the pregnancy, the Middlesex DA’s office said on Monday.

The woman suffered a miscarriage after she had been given the pills, one of which is believed to be Misoprostol.

Kawada has been charged with poisoning, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a pregnant person, and assault and battery on a household or family member.

Kawada was arrested by Watertown Police on Friday, and he will be arraigned in Waltham District Court on Tuesday.

The case remains an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex DA’s office and Watertown Police.
