Gov. Maura Healey said she plans to run for reelection in 2026.

During a radio interview Friday, Healey said she is “really proud” of her record so far and “there’s a heck of a lot more to do.” The first-term Democrat was the first woman and openly gay candidate elected governor in Massachusetts.

“I plan to run for reelection because there’s a lot more to do. I love my job. I feel incredibly privileged to be in this position, and I’d love to have the opportunity to continue to work for the great people of this state,” she said on GBH’s “Boston Public Radio.”

Multiple Republicans, including former cabinet secretary Mike Kennealy and Sen. Peter Durant, have said they are considering gubernatorial bids.
