The region is under a fire weather watch for the next couple of days amid dry and gusty conditions, as Lynn firefighters and Mass State Police continue to battle a brush fire in Lynn Woods.

The National Weather Service’s fire weather watch will likely be upgraded to a “Red Flag Warning” for portions of southern New England on Tuesday, according to the forecasters.

The most critical conditions are expected to be between late morning to sundown each day on Tuesday and Wednesday.

“Very dry conditions and gusty winds will result in potentially critical fire weather conditions,” the National Weather Service wrote in its fire weather watch for Massachusetts.

Hazy and smoky skies will be possible early on Tuesday. This smoke will be coming from wildfires far away from southern New England in Alberta, Canada.

Meanwhile, firefighters keep battling the brush fire in Lynn Woods. On Monday, Lynn firefighters were working with the state Department of Conservation and Recreation and Mass State Police, using helicopter water drops for the fire.

All trails in the northern part of Lynn Woods were closed amid the brush fire.

“Due to the ongoing fire activity in Lynn Woods, public access to all trails north of Walden Pond is strictly prohibited,” the Lynn Fire Department posted on social media. “This includes Ox Pasture Rd. and Overlook trail from Greatwoods Rd. entrance to the Lynnfield line. These trails will remain closed until further notice.”
