The Massachusetts Gaming Commission meets Monday for the second in a series of public hearings aimed at giving residents the chance to comment on any of the companies hoping to take bets under the state’s new sports betting law.
“Monday’s Public Hearing is meant to provide the public an opportunity to give comments on the existing applications for Category 3 Sports Wagering Licenses tethered to casino licensees,” the commission said when announcing the hearing.
Last week the state, through the gaming commission, finally awarded the first sports betting license granted under an Act Regulating Sports Wagering, the law signed this summer by Gov. Charlie Baker which legalizes betting on profession and some college sports.
That award came following consideration of three casino based licenses, out of which only Encore Boston Harbor made it through after a single meeting with regulators.
Monday’s hearing comes ahead of the commission’s consideration of the five mobile licenses which will be attached to the state’s casinos. Residents can view the hearing at massgaming.com, where those wishing to comment will also find call-in information.
