The Boston Police Department is investigating a horrific incident of a man setting himself on fire right in the heart of downtown Boston.
Boston Police were dispatched to the area of 19 Columbus Ave., about a block south of the Boylston Street entrance to the Public Garden, at around 8:10 p.m. Wednesday where they found two members of Boston EMS tending to an adult male suffering from “severe burn wounds,” according to a police report on the incident.
The location of the incident is a short walk around the block from the Consulate General of Israel to New England at 20 Park Plaza.
The man was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital.
BPD spokesman Officer Mark Marron said that the incident is still under investigation and that there is no update to the person’s hospital status available as of 2:30 p.m.
This is a developing story.
