A coach of the girls’ junior varsity soccer team at Lynn Classical High School has been arrested on sex-related charges involving students.
Oscar Juarez, 38, of Saugus, faces felony charges of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14 and distributing pornographic material. He’s also charged with misdemeanor reckless endangerment of a child.
Juarez was arrested Monday and pleaded not guilty to the charges at his arraignment in Lynn District Court the same day. He was ordered held in the Middleton House of Correction in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
Should he post bail, he was ordered to stay away from all the alleged victims and witnesses in the case, to have no contact with minors other than his own children and to not possess any dangerous weapons. He is due back in court on Sept. 7.
“Students’ safety, in school and including in LPS sports, is a top concern,” a spokesman for Lynn Public Schools said in a statement. “As charges developed, LPS acted immediately and the individual in question was notified that there was to be no contact with any student in the LPS student community. Because there will be a personnel investigation, the Lynn Public Schools cannot share any further details. The District has no further comment in this matter.”
Juarez is specifically accused of sending nude images of himself to an 18-year-old student who used to play for the team. He also allegedly asked this woman and another girl to have a sexual relationship with him, as well as groping another girl player.
