As I read Joe Battenfeld’s latest commentary (“Wu follows familiar playbook in blaming others,” Boston Herald, Dec. 19), one would think that Mayor Wu would get it that she really messed up in hosting a segregated holiday party at the city-owned Parkman House up on Beacon Hill.
This idea of an “Electeds of Color”-only festive gathering should have been a no-brainer when the idea of using a public building to host it was presented to city councilors.
Most of our city councilors aren’t totally useless but sadly many are. Wasn’t anyone on the city council smart enough to see the terrible optics of it all?
This whole idea is so anti-Christmas, anti-Kwanzaa, anti-everything good about this season where our unity as human beings should be bringing us all together.
I am sure Mayor Wu and her “Electeds of Color” thought this news event would fade fast from public view and public comment but it hasn’t. It lives on because this wasn’t just a minor political dustup. It was a big screwup and until there is a real apology offered, this story will live on. It perhaps also only grows without somebody in City Hall, I’m thinking the mayor, owning up for this judgement mistake. She should have known how it would all play out.

Congratulations to Gov. Abbott of Texas for doing what our feckless president fails to do on our southern border as thousands of illegal immigrants now enter our country on a daily basis. Joe Biden has intentionally refused to address this problem, even as Democratic governors on the border have pleaded for assistance. Abbot has now authorized Texas Law Enforcement to arrest and prosecute anyone entering illegally.
Too bad Massachusetts Gov. Healey lacks the same fortitude and conviction. Instead, she merely burdens the state’s taxpayers with unnecessary costs and disruption, as she pushes her woke ideology.
How shameful our Democratic leaders have become in ignoring the law for their own purposes.

Most REAL football fans like myself could care less that Taylor Swift is at the Kansas City Chiefs games cheering on her alleged boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Anyone with half a brain knows Taylor Swift is using Kelce for material for her next song/album when she dumps him at the end of the Chiefs’ season.
