I do not think Ukraine should give up 1 inch of its land to Russia. However, at some point Putin needs a way out for his war. The war between Russia and Ukraine must end, the sooner the better. I propose Ukraine keep Crimea so they have access to the sea and give a portion of the four oblasts Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson back to Russia — if  the people vote to be annexed to Russia. My reasoning is these four oblasts are very heavily damaged. Russia will never give money to Ukraine to rebuild these areas filled with mines and devastation and will require untold billions to restore.

Another option is to split  the Crimean Peninsula in half so Russia and Ukraine both have access to the sea.. This would be a last resort. The bad news is the majority of Russian people support Putin’s actions in Ukraine.

It is sad and depressing to watch these days the constant assault on our much enviable Constitution by some ignorant cable media pundits as well as some elected public officials. Case in point: a stealthy move by some democrats in Congress and the Senate to bring about a change to the complexion of the Supreme Court by an increase in the number of justices.

Their argument is that the Supreme Court decisions run contrary to their expectations and fail to perpetuate their ideologies.

In this context, it is refreshing to read a letter from Mr. Tony Meschini, “Supreme Court Decisions” published in the Opinion Section of the Boston Herald Edition dated July 9. His reminder to the president as well as some members of the Congress and the Senate to do their sworn duties and not to meddle with other branches of our government as delineated in the Constitution is a timely one.

It is time for the current administration to pay attention to many ills facing our nation instead of promoting it’s false ideologies that run counter to our cherished Constitution.

Gun violence and crime is at a high volume throughout America currently.

The Boston Police Department, should believe in solutions to address this unacceptable violence start with bringing a range of constituencies together. Striving to establish understanding between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

Their main goals could be ongoing and continuous dialogue between communities and the police. An example, is the work will be organizing events in which young people, seniors and other community members can have positive interactions with police officers working in our city. Seeking to help close the divide between the police and some in the neighborhoods.

Boston and Massachusetts political leaders including Gov. Maura Healey, plus senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey should work to deliver more legislation on reachable goals and solutions that support peace. Decreasing the violence and crime drastically.
