Ah yes, the Sumner Tunnel has been shut down on weekends for about a year. Now we read the tunnel will be closed every day this summer. I’m sure the stores and restaurants downtown will feel the pinch, as will most motorists and flyers. Mayor Wu did not send anyone to East Boston to help guide the harried travelers to Logan Airport when the Sumner was closed on weekends so I am assuming she will not send anyone to East Boston to assist vehicles this summer while the tunnel is closed every day. She’s probably too busy adding more bike lanes, “beautifying” the historic Boston Common and putting lipstick on the City Hall environs. She’s no Mayor Menino. He would have never stood for this sloppiness. We miss him.

I am flummoxed by what is happening to Hunter Biden. Here he did willingly and intentionally fail to pay federal income taxes of a substantial amount over several years. Hunter violates the Controlled Substance Act by knowingly having in his possession a firearm by way of an interstate commerce violation.

Why Garland did not appoint a special counsel in the Hunter Biden case  like he did against Trump is a total lack of judicial fairness. Frankly, it’s criminal and Garland deserves impeachment.  To think that Merrick Garland almost made it to the Supreme Court is mind boggling. Talk about our country being in trouble.

Hunter’s plea agreement, if accepted by the judge,  is great news to all defense lawyers who have clients in prisons. To them I say ‘go for it’  now that you may soon have precedent to get your clients out of prison for being unjustly incarcerated. $$$$$.

Hopefully, the upcoming judge will use her discretion and do what is right for the country  and not accept the DOJ’s proposed plea deal. Can’t figure out what has happened to our politicized  DOJ and FBI. Very sad.

A special counsel is desperately needed in this politically charged situation.  John Durham, I believe, is available ?

Aron Solomon’s opinion piece to abandon the Electoral College and replace it with a national popular vote is faulty.  Majority rule does not safeguard the principal that every vote counts.  Solomon’s argument is a farce.  The two coasts of America have a majority of Democrats living in overcrowded cities and a hugely disproportionate number of voters.  Case in point, Solomon acknowledges that Wyoming has 580,000 voters with 3 electoral college votes while California has 40 million people and 55 electoral college votes.  How does every vote count for citizens in Wyoming and other flyover states when a popular vote in big cities like New York and Los Angeles would give an overwhelming lead of popular votes in an election?  The Electoral College provides some sense of “every vote counts” by giving sparsely populated states a voice in elections.
