Stephen Moore says the US shouldn’t spend money on reducing carbon emissions because China emits more than we do (“Moore: America’s $100B climate change flop,” 3/11). By that reasoning, if I’m driving my car at 90 mph and someone passes me going 95, then I’m not being reckless.

The economic benefits of climate-related investments in this country are obvious. Clean energy industries employ 3.2 million people in the US, and that includes 3% of all jobs in Massachusetts.

But the point is that the US should be the leader in reducing carbon. We have put more cumulative emissions in the atmosphere than any other nation, and our per capita emissions are currently 60% higher than China’s. The US has the resources and technology to lead the way in developing clean energy solutions that can benefit this country and the rest of the world.

Mr. Moore is a longtime friend of the fossil fuel industry, and his phony arguments to support it are sounding more and more desperate.

The U.S. has spent  $100B to fight climate change.  What did we accomplish with this investment?  Carbon dioxide emissions reached a record high in 2022.  Countries around the world emitted more carbon dioxide in 2022 than in any other year on record dating back to 1900.  It is folly to think the U.S. can change the world’s climate.  China, alone, built 168 coal fired energy plants last year in its rush toward energy independence.  India is a major player in the quest of energy independence.  Germany is increasing coal production plants to keep up with its energy needs.  Biden wants to pour $500M over the next ten years down the rabbit hole called climate change.  Stop the madness.

Reading Mr. Howie Carr’s (“Wuhan Lab to Jan. 6 Footage,” 3/8) and watching Mr. Tucker Carlson’s (Fox News) narratives, it is becoming apparent that Democrats in Congress since 2016 and their mainstream media pundits have lost their “moral compass” completely.

All they seem to care for is total power and total subjugation of ignorant and innocent public.

Mr. Carr needs to be commended for his exhaustive list of foul play and deceits indulged by them in the last few years, all to ensure their grip on power. Principles and decency do not seem to matter to them. They all took the oath to serve the public lawfully.

There seems to be no accountability for failures and deceits by responsible government officials anymore.

Our nation’s problems keep mounting – inflation, porous border, death by drugs, railroad mishaps – all getting swept aside and do not seem to get the attention they deserve.

It is time for the new Congress to take some swift actions.

Congress needs to serve the public and not mislead them. Mainstream media need to be honest and not indulge in cover-ups.

I wonder whether anything will change in the near future in the partisan world in which we live.
