What exactly is the state senate hiding? According to Chris Van Buskirk’s reporting (“Whiplash,” Feb. 12), senators in addition to legal counsel attended the entrance conference regarding the State Auditor’s proposed audit of the senate. Instead of agreeing to mundane issues like a point person for records requests, working space, etc., the senators and legal counsel raised conflict of interest issues, and whether Auditor DiZoglio’s office had an opinion letter from the U. S. Government Accountability Office commenting on said issue and if the USGAO opinion was in writing. Wow!  Aren’t they touchy.

No wonder an overwhelming majority of the Commonwealth’s registered voters voted affirmatively to give Auditor DiZoglio authority to look into the opaque operations of the state senate.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren is aghast that if her pet project CFPB is gutted by President Trump then there will be “no cop on the beat.”

Well, given her and the Democrats utter disdain for law enforcement officers I would think she’d be thrilled. Warren and the entire Massachusetts delegation need to be voted out. They’d be laughable if they weren’t destroying our country from within.

I am outraged the Trump Administration is making the U.S. weaker in the world. On Jan. 24, the administration issued a “Stop-Work Order” for all existing programming funded by U.S. foreign assistance. This action is catastrophic for communities around the world and undermines U.S credibility internationally.

Overnight, the order created chaos. Would people lose access to lifesaving medicines and treatment? Would doctors, nurses, and health workers be able to see patients? Would moms get prenatal care and safe childbirth services? In addition, programs to combat human trafficking, to provide shelter for people escaping war, and core nutrition, water, and sanitation programs are at risk.

The administration did backtrack with waivers for many programs, but it is still unclear what is covered and for how long. The order needs to be reversed.

Stopping all aid without any warning takes the United States backwards in making America safer, stronger, and more prosperous. I urge our members of Congress to publicly oppose the Stop-Work Order, and push for its immediate reversal.

It’s outrageous. We are the most fortunate people. And we are so spoiled we don’t even realize it.  A large part of the world lives basically hand to mouth.  And they also live under the gun.

We don’t have to live with these problems. We’re so fortunate and spoiled we have to create drama and dissension.  It’s not enough to be happy, proud, patriotic, helpful, and giving, and work together for the betterment of our community, neighbors, and the wonderful country we are so fortunate to live in.

I know not everyone is going to agree with me, but let’s get back on track and make our wonderful country, and maybe the world, a better place to live in.
