“Since President Biden took office, EV sales have tripled and the number of publicly available charging ports has grown by more than 40%. There are now more than three million EVs on the road and over 130,000 public chargers across the country.” – From the Biden-Harris National Network on EV Chargers. Impressive but not to Stephen Moore, who relentlessly mocks climate solution progress (“Hey Joe: Where are all the EV charging stations?“) June 7, Boston Herald).
Five out of the top ten international companies with the greatest revenue are from the gas and oil industry. Couldn’t they help by funding the installation of more EV chargers? And they could help to expedite solar, wind, heat pumps and EVs because although climate change is not accelerating, global warming is, at an alarming pace.
Half the country is realizing that Donald Trump’s claim that the “climate crisis is a hoax” is his biggest and most dangerous lie. Yes, he divided us but only temporarily. The Biden/Harris team is working for our future as they always do.

Two things are certain about Stephen Moore. He has an obsessive, ideological hatred for electric vehicles, and he makes dishonest arguments (“Moore: Hey Joe: Where are all the EV charging stations?,” June 7).
For example, in the very first sentence of his recent op-ed, he claims that the US “used record amounts of fossil fuels” in 2023. Where is he getting this? The reality, as documented on the non-partisan site statista.com, is that fossil fuel consumption in the US has been steadily declining since 2007 in absolute terms. Over the same period, consumption of renewable energy has consistently risen.
The rollout of DC fast-charging infrastructure has been delayed because the states are working through the federal requirements that ensure safe and reliable equipment. In May, Massachusetts selected three contractors for charger installation who will compete with each other on cost. Lots of chargers will soon start appearing along our major highways to meet demand.
Moore would rather keep driving his gas-powered car and let China claim ownership of the global EV market. That would be a disaster for the United States.

The AP account of the increasing impacts of the climate crisis (“Climate records keep getting shattered. Here is what you need to know,” ) is accurate, and devastating. But as for “what you need to know,” it misses a few things.
President Biden has taken what steps he can to address the problem: supporting renewable energy and helping decrease carbon emissions. The other party seems dedicated to supporting the fossil fuel industry, increasing drilling for oil and gas, and mocking efforts to limit emissions. If we elect Trump and his Republican colleagues, we lost any hope of limiting the earth’s temperature increase, with its corresponding disasters.
Vote for the planet. It might be the most important thing you can do.
