FOXBORO — After a two-week hiatus to heal a hamstring injury, Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers expects to be back on the field for the team’s season finale against the Jets.

Peppers missed the Patriots’ Week 16 win over the Broncos and their Week 17 loss to the Bills, but he’s been back on the practice field and expects to play.

“It’s been eating at me, but they’ve been having to save me from myself a little bit,” Peppers said Thursday. “But I finally got an opportunity to put in the great work and finish this thing off with bang.”

Peppers has been one of the Patriots’ best players this season, registering 76 tackles with two interceptions, seven pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one sack, five tackles for loss and two QB hits while playing a versatile role as a free safety and strong safety.

“Got to finish strong no matter the circumstances,” Peppers said about his team’s 4-12 record heading into Week 18.
