A stunning show of law enforcement solidarity this weekend is sending a warning to illegal immigrant drug traffickers, gun runners, and human traffickers.
The Boston FBI, DEA, ATF, and U.S. Marshals all declared on social media they are “proud to cooperate” with immigration agents grabbing the “worst first” in a coast-to-coast sweep.
Boston ERO, immigration Enforcement and Removal Operations, has been spearheading the arrests. In the past, they have done it alone and often under heavy criticism. Now it’s different.
The other regional agencies are not shying away from letting the public know they are backing up Immigration and Custom Enforcement partners.
It all falls under President Donald Trump’s vow to voters to fix the broken immigration system.
“It’s a whole-of-government approach to telling the story of these deportations,” Karoline Leavitt, White House press secretary, said this past week of showing the public the progress with deportations.
A recent AP/NORC poll showed 76% of respondents favored deporting illegal immigrant criminals convicted of a violent crime. The poll adds: “There is also broad support among people across the political spectrum with majorities of Democrats (79%) and Republicans (89%) in support.”
Fighting Mexican cartels, ramping up national security with better vetting, fixing the border, using Guantanamo as a holdover, and allowing immigration to continue as it is supposed to are all next steps, according to the Center for Immigration Studies.
But the message this weekend in Greater Boston has been sent by the FBI, DEA, ATF, Marshals that they are working with ICE — and are not being told to hide it. That means all the knowledge they have on where the criminals have been spotted is now being shared with immigration officers.
“What is shocking to me is that many of these violent criminals — we knew their addresses, we knew their names. We just needed to send somebody to go to their house and get them the hell out of the country,” Vice President President J.D. Vance said on Fox this past week.
It started in Boston and has yet to let up.
