NextImg:Howie Carr: Maura Healey’s tax hike on every prescription to support illegal immigrants on welfare

The word of the day is ambulance.

The Democrats’ latest plot to pick the pockets of working-class Americans in Massachusetts is to impose a $2 tax per every prescription written in the state.

You’re not supposed to notice it because Gov. Maura Healey describes the tax hike buried deep in her proposed new budget as an “assessment.”

It’s supposed to raise $145 million for MassHealth – the state’s Medicaid system, which is hemorrhaging cash in large part because of the billions being squandered on welfare for illegal aliens in the “shelters,” also known as Healey’s Haitian hotels.

This is where the word “ambulance” comes in.

If you’re an American, and you obey the laws, and you take responsibility for your own life, you probably don’t use ambulances very often, for any number of reasons.

Number one, the expense. Number two, if you don’t really need emergency medical care, you don’t want to tie up resources that might be needed by the truly needy.

But illegal aliens relaxing in the flophouses seem to have few such qualms. Everything free in America, after all. Especially in Massachusetts.

Which is why the MassHealth budget is spiraling up another 13 percent next year. Foreign freeloader flophouses are expensive.

Even though President Trump is ending the “Temporary” Protected Status of all these deadbeat Haitian illegals, the local Democrats desperately want them to remain here, on their permanent lifetime vacations.

It’s all part of the fundamental transformation of America into a Third World hellhole.

Healey et al. argue the $2.5 billion for the flophouses isn’t coming solely out of the Medicaid budget. Up to a point, that may be true – when they get moved out, the Haitians (as well as all the other Third World grifters, like the alleged Dominican fentanyl dealer in Revere with an AR 15), are entitled to “emergency rental assistance.”

In fiscal year 2022, that “emergency rental assistance” cost the state $42 million. Now it’s $250 million because… Democrats.

But this morning let’s talk about the ambulances.

Under duress, Healey recently coughed up the “serious incident reports” from the so-called shelters. Last year’s incidents ran to 2,239 pages. Lotta flashing red lights and sirens in those 2,239 pages.

On page 351, from last June, an illegal “stated her son had a rash on his neck due to the rug.” A case worker inquired whether the illegal could get a ride to a (free) clinic – a lot of these foreigners have cars, even if they’re not registered, insured or inspected.

“(Illegal) stated no and then the CW (case worker) called ambulance so child could be taken to the hospital.”

For a rash. Did you ever call the ambulance when one of your children had a rash?

Last March, as reported on page 492, a “resident” began running up and down the halls at the flophouse, “stating that she was Jesus.” In her suite, staff discovered marijuana and vapes. Can you guess what was called to the scene?

“EMT arrived and placed resident on a stretcher, resident became erratic again, she was handcuffed to the stretcher and transported to (redacted).”

Have you ever been handcuffed to a stretcher?

Another recurring theme in these reports about ambulance rides is “seizures.” There’s an epidemic of seizures in the Healey hotels. Not to mention “dizziness.” All require ambulances.

Page 420: “Staff on duty received a call from Client asking staff on duty to call 911 as his daughter was having seizure. Ambulance arrived and transported Client and his daughter to (redacted) Hospital.”

Page 528: “Told staff she is having seizures because she doesn’t have her medication. She then called for the ambulance but couldn’t really speak properly so staff took over the call to request an ambulance. The ambulance arrived and she was taken to the hospital.”

And was back “the same day.” Must have been a very serious “seizure.” Just put it on the taxpayers’ tab.

Page 471: “(Illegal) called the ambulance due to her daughter hearing voices. The entire family left in the ambulance upon arrival.”

If a taxpayer needs a ride somewhere, he calls an Uber. If you’re an illegal on welfare in a Healey hotel, you call an ambulance. Tell ‘em the anchor baby was hearing voices. The voices said, “There’s a sale at Total Wine.”

As one case worker dryly pointed out on page 604: “This writer had no evident warning signs until the ambulance showed up.”

From last May, on page 546 another tragedy unfolds with a young illegal: “She was upset about her Medications being changed and about not being able to attend the prom.” So of course 911 was called. Can you guess what happened next? “She was sent by ambulance to (redacted).”

Page 483: An illegal urchin has his free cell phone taken away for “being disrespectful.” The brat throws a fit and is “still out of control screaming very loud…. Staff decided to call the police and (redacted) was taken by the ambulance to the ER.”

Did you ever call an ambulance because your kid was mouthing off to you?

How do illegal aliens on welfare get away with such abominable behavior, you ask? One way is to accuse the staff, even if they’re black, of being racists.

Page 459: “(Illegal) started to insult both law enforcement and staff saying they were ‘bitch ass (racist expletives) and don’t respect no white folks they separate black families all the time. (Illegal) also stated that law enforcement were a bunch of (six-letter anti-gay slur starting with the letter ‘f’).”

What would you do, if you were taking that kind of abuse daily, for short money? You’d call the ambulance.

So far, the price tag for this Democrat insanity is $2.5 billion, with another $425 million already appropriated to keep those ambulances running.

And Maura Healey’s only answer is to tax her American constituents who work for a living $2 for every med they must take to remain healthy enough to keep working two jobs to support all the illegal aliens on welfare calling ambulances.

Wait ‘til you start getting all those $2 charges on every prescription you have. They’ll add up fast. You’ll be the one needing an ambulance.

But just remember, gringo – unlike the illegals, you’ll be charged for any ambulance you call.

Are you sure you’ll be able to afford your own ambulance, after you pay for all of theirs?
