Gov. Maura Healey plans to highlight her experience working with Kamala Harris and the vice president’s “record of fighting for all Americans” during a speech Thursday night at the Democratic National Convention, according to a source familiar with her remarks.

Healey, who is scheduled to speak just after 8 p.m. Boston time, has a chance to raise her national profile moments before Harris is expected to formally accept her party’s nomination for president on the last day of the convention.

The governor is also preparing to talk about “the stark choice in this election between a convicted felon and a dedicated prosecutor for the people,” the source told the Herald.

Healey served as a top surrogate for President Joe Biden’s now-defunct re-election bid but was one of the first governors to suggest he step out of the race for the White House.

The first-term Democrat endorsed Harris a day after the vice president became the immediate frontrunner to secure the Democratic presidential nomination. Healey is now a surrogate for Harris and vice presidential candidate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

Harris is a “proven leader who has delivered for the American people again and again,” Healey said in a July statement.

“Kamala Harris is the best person to make the case against Donald Trump. Trump is coming after our rights and our freedoms. And he will jack up costs on the middle class by gutting Social Security, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act,” Healey said.

Healey has spent the past month publicly campaigning for Harris on everything from national talk shows to her personal social media accounts.

The Democratic National Convention’s main program is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. Eastern and a livestream is available online.
