Police are seeking the public’s help after five people were shot, including four “young adults,” at a party in Dorchester late last night.
Mayor Michelle Wu and police Superintendent Felipe Colon addressed the media at the scene just before midnight.
“We really need the public’s help here,” Colon said, saying police would take anonymous or any tip.
He said the five shot all have non-life threatening injuries. The shooter opened fire on Greenwood Street near the corner of Ellington Street, police said. One of the victim’s is a “juvenile.”
The gunman “shot into the group,” Colon added.
“It’s awful to be here tonight … we are still feeling the horror of violence interrupting the family gathering,” the mayor said, adding there’s “still work to do” in the city. She repeated her distress at the shooting in Spanish.
“Are trama teams are on the scene,” Wu added.
Colon said it was “an outside scene” at a gathering. No arrests and one shooter “firing multiple rounds” was reported.
