A Hyde Park woman is facing multiple charges after a chaotic late night incident involving allegedly driving on a Seaport sidewalk, striking a pedestrian, attacking the pedestrian on foot, hitting a light pole and fire hydrant as she fled the scene, and resisting arrest, the DA’s office said in a release Sunday.

“This is extraordinarily dangerous conduct, particularly in a residential and destination area heavy with patrons exiting restaurants and bars,” DA Kevin Hayden said of the July 30 incident. “To place pedestrians who are simply enjoying a Boston summer evening in such imminent danger is beyond irresponsible — it is reckless and, potentially, lethal.”

The alleged driver, Emily Verrochi, 28, was arraigned last Monday in South Boston BMC on charges of reckless operation of a motor vehicle, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, malicious destruction of property over $1,200 and resisting arrest.

Judge Michael Bolden set bail at $1,000 and ordered Verrochi to stay away from the victim and the Seaport neighborhood.

Massachusetts State Police responded to reports of the incident around 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 30, according to Hayden’s office, finding a Nissan Altima with heavy front end and undercarriage damage.

Witnesses at the scene told police they saw Verrochi driving erratically in the street before veering onto the sidewalk and hitting a pedestrian, the release said. The victim sustained only minor injuries.

Verrochi, however, claimed she was a passenger in the vehicle, the release said, and two other passengers assaulted her and fled.

Surveillance footage shows the suspect driving alone, the DA’s office stated.

On the video, Verrochi can be seen making U-turns to continually pass one group of people on the sidewalk, the release said, before turning into them at the corner of Northern Avenue and Harborview Lane.

The vehicle hit a male victim, the release said, and then Verrochi  allegedly got out and attacked the man. She then returned to her car, made another U-turn and hit a nearby fire hydrant and light pole, according to the DA’s office.

The victim, who claimed to not know Verrochi, declined medical treatment, the DA’s office said.

During the arrest, officers fell to the ground and Verrochi sustained minor facial injuries while resisting arrest, the release said.

The suspect has a 10-page record, the release stated, including several assault and battery convictions.

Verrochi is due back in court on October 13 for a pre-trial hearing.
