Former Red Sox outfielder Adam Duvall has signed a one-year, $3 million deal with the Atlanta Braves, rejoining the club with whom he won a World Series championship in 2021.

The Braves announced the deal Thursday afternoon.

Duvall spent one season with the Red Sox, missing approximately two months with a broken wrist but posting strong numbers when healthy. The 35-year-old finished with 21 home runs and 58 RBI in 92 games, posting an .834 OPS and a 1.6 wins above replacement mark in the process.

Despite his solid production and relatively weak market in free agency, the Red Sox made no significant effort to bring back the veteran for a second year. The club instead appears set on entering the season with Jarren Duran, Tyler O’Neill and rookies Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu as the primary outfielders, with Masataka Yoshida still in the picture as the primary designated hitter.

As a result Duvall will return to the Braves, where he has enjoyed considerable success over the course of his career. Duvall has played five seasons in Atlanta total over two stints, most notably the second half of 2021, when he polished off a career-high 38 home runs before helping lead the Braves to their fourth and most recent championship.
