The Patriots are losing wide receiver Nelson Agholor to a 1-year, $3.25 million free-agent deal with the Ravens, according to reports.

Agholor was not expected to return to New England after a disappointing 2-year tenure that resulted in 68 catches for 835 yards and five touchdowns. The Patriots signed him as a free agent in 2021, when Agholor was coming off a career year as a deep threat with the Raiders. In 2020, he averaged a personal best 18.7 yards per catch on 48 grabs.

The 30-year-old played fewer than half of the team’s offensive snaps last year and 65% of their snaps in 2021. Last season, Agholor fell behind DeVante Parker, Jakobi Meyers, rookie Tyquan Thornton and embattled veteran Kendrick Bourne. He saw just four offensive snaps in the Pats’ season finale at Buffalo.

Agholor’s 2-year, $22 million contract with the Patriots stands as one of the biggest free-agent busts of the Belichick era. The team recently signed free-agent receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to bolster its receiving production, with Agholor expected to walk and Meyers leaving for Las Vegas.
