Police are investigating the death of an 18-year-old woman whose body was found in Everett as “suspicious,” but details for why are sparse.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, there were no obvious injuries,” the Middlesex District Attorney’s office wrote in a statement at around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday. “However, due to the circumstances around the location of the body it is being investigated as suspicious at this time.”

The woman’s identity is not being released at this time, according to the DA’s statement.

A resident of Springfield Avenue in Everett called police at around 2 p.m. to report that she had found the woman’s body “apparently deceased behind her home,” according to the statement.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
