The anti-Trump rhetoric is not surprising, but it’s missing a major point.
“Unenrolled ” — or independent — voters now make up an even larger portion of the Massachusetts electorate, at 64.75%, according to the Secretary of State’s office.
That’s 3.25 million voters.
Registered Democrats come next with 25.84% of the electorate, or 1.29 million registered party members, a drop of 54,334 voters.
Republicans counted 8.42% of the state’s registered voters on their rolls, or 423,287 party members, a drop of 11,600 voters.
More independents in the Bay State are sick of the status quo, these numbers suggest. They are fed up with high taxes and a delegation dominated by posturing Democrats hellbent on thwarting President Donald Trump at every turn instead of getting to work for taxpayers.
They may not say it that forcefully at family gatherings, but they are likely thinking it. For some, there’s too much risk in stating the obvious: President Trump is shaking up the bloated federal government while shutting down the Southern Border and deporting the “Worst First.”
He wants to stop the killing and maiming of soldiers and civilians in Ukraine and Gaza.
He wants fair trade, and he’ll play poker with other nations to win that economic war — Canada and Mexico especially and China for sure.
It’s easy to see that Trump is going to use every day of his four-year term to revolutionize our democracy. Is he giving Elon Musk and DOGE too much power? Possibly, but what is the alternative? Sit back and let the federal government continue to become even more unweildly?
U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren won’t admit it, but the immigration crisis costing billions here is finally easing up because Trump shut the border down. He sent a message to the world that law and order has returned. Keep your fentanyl at home and stop killing our kids.
It’s difficult to make this point without summing up what the Democratic party has stood for, but we must. Woke. Illogical, fiscally irresponsible, public-safety-thwarting WOKE!
Just look at the numbers. Fewer people are voting in Massachusetts, and independents are growing.
The electorate is pleading for some common sense. You deserve nothing less.
