


Another deadly bike crash involving a truck has been reported in Cambridge, according to officials.
A 24-year-old Cambridge woman reportedly died after she was struck by a box truck at the intersection of Hampshire Street and Portland Street Friday morning, the Middlesex DA’s office reported.
Both the truck and cyclist were traveling in the same direction on Hampshire Street, and the truck was turning right onto Portland Street at the time of the crash, according to investigators.
The woman was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she later died. The truck operator remained at the scene.
“Tragically, another cyclist has been killed by a truck in @CambMA. This is the second in 2 weeks,” posted Cambridge Vice-Mayor Marc McGovern.
The investigation is being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Cambridge Police Department and Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
On Friday, June 7, a fatal bike crash was reported involving a box truck at the intersection of DeWolfe and Mt. Auburn streets.
Both the truck and bicycle were traveling in the same direction on Mt. Auburn Street, and the truck was turning onto DeWolf Street at the time of the crash, according to investigators.
The bicyclist, a 55-year-old Florida woman, was transported to CHA Cambridge, where she was pronounced dead. The truck operator remained at the scene.
